Recently, State Grid Chengdu Power Supply Company adopted a new type of aluminum clad carbon fiber conductor provided by our company (Remote Cable Co., Ltd.) in its key overhead line capacity expansion and renovation project. This successful application marks the first time that this innovative conductor has been put into operation on the 220kV voltage level of the State Grid, and it is also a testament to the peak of our company's technical strength.
The aluminum coated carbon fiber wire introduced by our company has been widely validated and successfully applied in harsh environments in multiple regions around the world, such as North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, due to its excellent performance. Nowadays, we have deeply integrated this globally tested mature technology with localized innovation, injecting strong impetus into the modernization construction of China's power grid.
Compared to traditional wires, what we bring is a comprehensive technological innovation, with its four core advantages particularly prominent:
01 Excellent mechanical properties, improving sag performance
The strength of the composite core rod exceeds 2750MPa, the modulus exceeds 150GPa, the density is about 1.76g/cm ³, and the coefficient of linear expansion is only 0.7 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃. Its excellent mechanical properties can significantly improve the sag of large-span conductors, broaden applications, and increase construction fault tolerance.
02 Flexibility and pressure resistance enhancement, low construction damage rate
By using prestressed aluminum coating technology, the flexibility and pressure resistance of the composite core rod have been improved, with a bending diameter of up to 35D and a radial pressure resistance exceeding 50KN, reducing the risk of damage caused by bending and compression during construction.
03 Good protective performance and extended service life
The core rod is coated with seamless aluminum, which helps to isolate moisture, air, and ultraviolet rays, slow down the aging of the core rod, and avoid electrochemical corrosion, thereby improving the reliability of the product throughout its entire lifecycle.
04 Construction technology compatibility, convenient on-site application
This wire can use the same direct pressure steel pipe and supporting tools as steel cored aluminum stranded wire, and the construction method is compatible with existing processes, which helps to reduce construction difficulty and training costs.
The successful implementation of the State Grid Chengdu project not only validates the outstanding performance of our new products in high-voltage environments, but also provides authoritative selection basis and technical confidence for the subsequent capacity expansion and renovation of higher voltage levels such as 500kV for State Grid.
